What is Player HQ?

Player HQ is your home after sign-in. At the top you’ll find Community HQ (or Build your community if you do not host yet), My sign-ups, and Account settings. Discord shows as Linked when connected; if it is not linked yet, a Link with Discord area appears near the top. Your account menu uses your display name for the Player HQ home link (not Overview). On a phone, open Your account in the header.

Where do I see my upcoming events?

Open My sign-ups from the top of Player HQ (or Your account → My registrations). You’ll see every upcoming RSVP with payment status, venue details, and links to finish online payment when the host enabled Stripe. Cancel from the same row if the host allows it. Private invite codes have their own section near the top of My sign-ups — not inside the top banner.

Where are past events and standings?

Past events shows events you already played or cancelled. When hosts finish an event in Mythic Tournament, standings and league points appear on each row.

Account settings vs Preferences — what's the difference?

Account settings (Player HQ → Account settings) is your display name, email, password, Discord link or unlink, badges, and sign out. Preferences controls optional phone/region and whether hosts can see your email and phone on registration rows.

How do I sign up for an event?

Open the event from Find Events or a community page, then register on the event listing. Your spot appears under My sign-ups with payment status and venue details. Checking in on game night is a separate step — it only works after the host opens check-in (in Mythic Life Counter, on Mythic Gathering, or at the desk).

What is the difference between an Event and a Special Event?

An Event is included with your organizer subscription — one listing and one RSVP flow, ideal for league nights or FNM. Those appear on Find Events (/events). A Special Event is a paid add-on workspace for conventions and multi-activity schedules: you set up sub-events, ticket (Entry) allowances, and capacity inside that workspace. Hosts open Community HQ → Events & leagues → Special events for the Campaign board and Manage Published Special Events. Published Special Event weekends appear on Special Events browse (/events/special-events), not in Featured on Find Events.

How is Mythic Gathering different from WPN EventLink or Melee?

Mythic Gathering is a community discovery and registration website for play groups, leagues, local game stores, and organizers — free for players. It connects to Mythic Tournament (pairings and check-in) and Mythic Life Counter (table play). WPN EventLink remains the official Wizards tool for sanctioned reporting; many stores run community nights in Mythic Gathering and still export attendance to EventLink. Melee and similar platforms focus on tournament brackets; Mythic Gathering focuses on local community profiles, recurring events, leagues, and Special Event weekends. Mythic Gathering is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.

Does Mythic Gathering sell event admission or charge a service fee?

No. Mythic Gathering is a community platform for discovery and registration — Mythic Gaming LLC does not sell event admission and does not take a cut of player admission. Organizer subscriptions and Special Event workspace packages are billed by Mythic Gaming LLC. When hosts enable online admission, payment goes through the host's connected Stripe account (Stripe’s own processing fees still apply).

How do I register for an event?

Open the event's public page while registration is open, sign in on Mythic Gathering if you are asked to, and complete registration (free, pay at door, or online payment — depending on what the host enabled). Email/password accounts must verify email before their first registration. Private events also need an invite code from the host before Register unlocks.

How do private event invite codes work?

Private events never appear on Find Events or Featured. The host shares an invite code. Sign in, enter the code on Find Events, under Player HQ → My sign-ups (its own invite section near the top), or on the event page, then register. Hosts copy or rotate the code from Community HQ → Events (expand the private event row), event setup, the private event page while signed in as the managing host, or under Event Run → Run next to pairings.

What is Streamer overlay (OBS) and how do I use it?

Streamer overlay is a League-and-above feature for creators. On the Event Run hub, use Streamer overlay (top actions) or open the Second display tab → Stream overlay (OBS) and copy the link. Paste that full URL into OBS as a Browser Source — you do not need to sign in as a host inside OBS. It shows standings, round/break timers, and stream messaging. It does not show invite codes, join links, or registration-desk QR codes (share those privately). When the event completes, the overlay shows Final standings and badge celebrations for awarded players, plus thank-you messaging. This is separate from Venue second display (TV or projector at the store).

What is Venue second display?

Venue second display is the TV or projector view from the Event Run hub. Open Second display (or Launch second display) to show pairings, standings, and round timers in sync with the event. Streamer overlay (OBS) is a different link for creators streaming online — do not confuse the two.

Where do Special Events appear?

Published Special Event weekends are on Special Events browse (/events/special-events), with their own Spotlight. They do not fill Featured on the main Find Events page (/events). Open a weekend from that browse page or a direct /events/special/… link.

Why can't I register for a Kickstarter demo event?

Accepted Answer

Sample communities, events, leagues, and Special Events shown for Kickstarter preview have registration turned off on purpose so everyone can browse them. Look for Kickstarter demo labels. Create a real account and register for non-demo events when hosts publish them.

How do hosts connect Discord / add the Mythic Gathering Bot?

Open Community HQ → Discord. Click Add Mythic Gathering Bot, pick your server in Discord, and approve permissions. Mythic Gathering saves the server automatically — you do not need a Server ID or Developer Mode. Then optionally save a permanent invite link, turn on publishing options, and either pick existing channels for Looking for Players / announcements / highlights or run Create channels / Create badge roles.

How do players link Discord on Mythic Gathering?

On Player HQ, if Discord is not linked yet, use Link with Discord near the top (under Discord & region) and approve Mythic Gathering on Discord’s authorize screen — you do not need Developer Mode or a user ID. When Discord is already linked, Player HQ shows Linked as a status. Unlink or manage visibility anytime under Player HQ → Account settings. You earn the Linked badge when it connects. This is separate from how hosts add the Mythic Gathering Bot to a community server.

Does Mythic Gathering monitor Discord chat for inappropriate content?

On the official Mythic Gathering hub Discord, yes — our bot can review public channel messages and images against Community Standards and flag issues for Mythic Gathering staff. On host community Discord servers where you add the Mythic Gathering Bot, no — the bot posts announcements, events, badges, and similar updates; it does not moderate your server for you. Hosts remain responsible for moderating their own servers. Mythic Gathering does not read private DMs.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification helps protect player accounts and ensures hosts can reach people who registered. Email/password accounts must verify before their first event registration. Google or Apple sign-in is already treated as verified.

How do Mythic Gathering, Mythic Tournament, and Mythic Life Counter work together?

Mythic Gathering is the community website for discovery and registration. Mythic Tournament (host app) runs pairings, rounds, and check-in. Mythic Life Counter is the player table app for life totals and connected play. Typical flow: RSVP on Mythic Gathering → host closes registration and opens check-in → players check in at the venue, on Mythic Gathering, or in Mythic Life Counter → host runs pairings in Mythic Tournament or on the Event Run hub.

What is Open check-in and when can players check in?

Registering for an event is not the same as checking in. After the host closes registration (or when they are ready), they tap Open check-in on the Event Run hub or in Mythic Tournament. Only then can registered players self-check-in from Mythic Life Counter or Mythic Gathering, and staff can mark seats present for pairings. Closing registration alone does not open player check-in. Staff can still check players in at the desk once check-in is open.

Why does an event ask for my Wizards Account email?

Some hosts turn on Collect Wizards Account email so they can export a player list for WPN EventLink after the night. You can enter or update that email when you register, or later under Player HQ → Account settings. Mythic Gathering is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast — the email is only for the host’s EventLink upload when they use that export.

How do hosts collect admission online?

Open Community HQ → Accept payments (`/host/manage/payments`). Work through the steps on that page: Connect Stripe, complete business verification, enable host online payment, then acknowledge tax responsibility and set refund policies. Players pay your connected Stripe account only — Mythic Gathering takes no cut of admission. Stripe’s own card processing fees still apply (see https://stripe.com/pricing). This is separate from Plan & subscription (your Mythic Gaming LLC organizer bill). Online admission unlocks on League plans and above.

What is the difference between Accept payments and Plan & subscription?

Accept payments is how players pay you for event admission (Stripe Connect). Plan & subscription is how you pay Mythic Gaming LLC for your organizer plan. They are separate pages under Community HQ — do not use Accept payments to manage your Mythic Gathering bill.

What does Casual community vs Verified community mean?

These are public trust labels about business verification — not about casual vs competitive games. Casual community means the organizer has not completed Stripe Connect business verification or Mythic Gathering business verification (typically not a verified business yet). Verified community means that verification is complete. It does not describe the formats a community plays. You can filter Find Events and Find Communities by these labels. Venue map and business contact unlock after Stripe business verification under Accept payments.

How do I find things in Community HQ?

Open Community HQ from the header (or from the Community HQ shortcut at the top of Player HQ if you already host). Menu sections expand downward — Community, Events & leagues, and Marketing — and only one section stays open at a time. Special events live under Events & leagues (not as a duplicate top-level item). Discord is its own link. Accept payments and Plan & subscription are under Community.

How do hosts run a Special Event weekend?

Open Community HQ → Events & leagues → Special events. Use the Campaign board for workspaces (including unpublished — status says Unpublished, not draft). From a workspace, use Event details, Prize tracking (optional weekend points), and Announce Special Event. When setting up a sub-event, finish with Save to workspace (not Publish event) so setup stays on the weekend. Use Manage Published Special Events for day-of ops: registrants, Entries, and door tools. Published sub-events open with Setup, then Run (the same Event Run hub as a normal event).

How does Prize tracking work on Special Events?

Open a Special Event workspace and choose Prize tracking. Turn tracking on, pick a points preset or build your own place table, optionally override points per sub-event, and review the weekend leaderboard (including manual awards). Standings can feed points automatically when tracking is on. This is separate from Entries and seat capacity.

Players register once for the Special Event weekend and receive a ticket allowance (Entries). They spend Entries to reserve sub-events. Hosts track remaining Entries and capacity on the weekend; Entry bookings sync onto each published sub-event’s run listing for door check-in.

Where do creator partners upload agreements and W-9s?

Invited creators use the Creator portal at /creator. Upload a signed agreement as PDF or as a photo (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC) — Mythic Gathering converts photos to PDF. Keep files under about 10 MB. Upload the current-year W-9 when asked. This is separate from Community HQ hosting.

Pairings, rounds, and check-in run in Mythic Tournament (the host app) or on Mythic Gathering’s Event Run hub (Community HQ → Events → Run). Typical order: Close registration → Open check-in → check players in → Confirm start. Use Venue second display for a store TV and Streamer overlay for OBS. Mythic Help cannot run pairings for you.

Self-check-in in the app only works after the host opens check-in — until then the Check-in button stays unavailable. Who handles refunds for paid events?

Hosts are responsible for their events — including admission pricing, cancellations, and refunds. Mythic Gathering provides registration tools; hosts process refunds through their Stripe account when players paid online (set up under Accept payments). For platform billing (your organizer subscription under Plan & subscription), contact Mythic Help from the Support menu.

How do I become a host?

Create an account, then visit Host to choose an organizer plan (Play Group, League, and higher tiers). You can publish a community profile and create Events on your subscription. Special Event workspaces require Mythic League or above, plus a separate workspace package when you need multi-activity schedules.

Some pages show a short tip the first time you visit. Tap Got it to dismiss it. Mythic Gathering remembers that choice for your account, so the same tip stays hidden next time you open that page.
