Connect Discord (Mythic Gathering Bot)

Hosts connect Discord from Community HQ → Discord. You need Manage Server permission in Discord for the community server you want to link.

You do not paste a Server ID. Mythic Gathering uses Discord’s normal authorize flow: pick your server, approve the bot, and return to Mythic Gathering.

Step 1 — Add Mythic Gathering Bot

• Open Community HQ → Discord.
• Click Add Mythic Gathering Bot (or Reconnect / choose another server if you already linked).
• In Discord, choose the server and approve the permissions for channels, roles, announcements, and events.
• When Discord sends you back to Mythic Gathering, the step should show Linked.

Step 2 — Permanent invite link (optional)

Save a never-expiring discord.gg invite so players can join from your community profile and event pages. In Discord, create an invite with Expire After: Never and Max Uses: No limit, paste it on the Discord page in Community HQ, and click Save invite.

Event announcements still post through the bot — the invite link is only for players joining your server.

Step 3 — Publishing options

• Turn on Sync events to Discord when I publish listings if you want Looking for Players posts (and optional Discord scheduled events).
• Optionally allow marketing posts to announcements and player shares to highlights.
• Click Create channels and Create badge roles if you want Mythic Gathering to set those up.
• Use the Test buttons (Looking for Players, Server Event, announcements) to confirm everything works.

If Discord scheduled events fail

Discord scheduled events need Create Events on the bot’s role. Use Reconnect or choose another server in Step 1 so Discord can add the missing permission, then run the Server Event test again.

What the bot does (and does not do)

On your community server, the bot is for posting and syncing — announcements, events, badges, and similar. Hosts stay responsible for moderating their own servers. Mythic Gathering does not read private DMs.
